Men's Soccer Unable to Top Redlands
Kingsmen downed 4-0 in rain game

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The California Lutheran University men's soccer
team was defeated 4-0 by the University of Redlands on Saturday at
home in the rain. Despite 16 shots by the Kingsmen and eight shots on goal, CLU was
unable to score and suffered its third conference loss of the season.
Cal Lutheran (5-6-0, 3-3-0) had a steady attack throughout the game and
posted eight shots in each half. Senior Josh Moskowitz managed seven
shots for CLU and six other Kingsmen had opportunities but were not
able to capitalize.
CLU sophomore Michael Zubach had four saves in the match, including an
impressive save on a penalty kick by Ross Schunk in the 55th minute.
Alex Parker put Redlands on the board first with a score in the 18th
minute off an assist from Cale Rodriguez. Jeff Willey added the second
goal with four minutes remaining in the first half.
The penalty kick save by Zubach gave the Kingsmen a lift but was not
enough and Redlands added scores by Bryan Fakkema at 72:10 and Gilbert
Flores at 83:07 to seal the game.
Evan Hobson made eight saves in goal for the Bulldogs, with four in each half.
Cal Lutheran will play at Occidental on Oct. 8 at 4 p.m. in another conference matchup.
