Kingsmen End Season on High Note

CLU defeats Caltech 6-0

The Kingsmen played their final contest of the season, defeating Caltech on Saturday.

PASADENA, Calif. – On Saturday the Cal Lutheran men’s soccer team played their final match of the season as they traveled south to take on Caltech in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) contest, coming away with the 6-0 victory.

Offensive Highlights: Cal Lutheran finished with 33 shots total, 17 of them on target. The Violet and Gold scored three goals in each half, coming from five different players. Gabe Fernando, Andrew Korshavn, Diego Ortega, and Jesse Gallardo each scored one goal apiece, while Cristian Yepez finished with two.

Defensive Highlights: The Kingsmen defense only allowed one shot on goal and kept the Beaver offense silent, marking their sixth shutout on the season. Eduardo Garcia contributed one save in goal for CLU.

The Opponent: Caltech had two shots total, one on target from Jack Banaszak. J.D. Feist tallied 11 saves during the full 90 minutes.

Notables: Seven seniors played their final match for the Violet and Gold on Saturday. Fernando, Korshavn, Kurtenbach, Zach Torres, Henry Breheny, Andres Mendoza and Salvador Orozco each contributed out on the pitch.

Cal Lutheran concludes the season with an overall record of 9-8-1 and an 8-7-1 record in conference play.
