Geoff Dains

Interim Head Coach

After 20 seasons as an assistant coach, Geoff Dains took over as interim head coach for the 2016-17 season, guiding the Kingsmen to a 20-7 overall record. Dains has recruited one All-American, a SCIAC player of the Year and numerous All-SCIAC selections in his time at CLU.

During his time as an assistant coach at Cal Lutheran, Dains helped the Kingsmen to three SCIAC Championships (2001, 2008, 2015) and eight SCIAC Runner-Up finishes (1997, 1998, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2009, 2010). Dains has also coached two different SCIAC Player of the Year award winners, and two Div. III All-American Athletes.

In addition, he has also coached 38 All-SCIAC conference players during his 20 years as an assistant and has coached six D3Hoops.com All-Region Players.

Aside from his multiple duties to the CLU men's hoops team, he is also the Game Management Coordinator and teaches in the Exercise Science and Sports Medicine Department at the university.

Coach Dains is also the Director of the Player's Academy and Lu Dog Basketball Camps and is currently a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches and has been for the past decade.

As a graduate assistant during his first two seasons at Cal Lutheran, he earned an Masters of Science degree in Counseling and Guidance.

Prior to arriving at CLU Dains attended DePauw (Ind.) University where he played for the 1991-92 Tigers basketball team.

While at DPU he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a minor in Teaching and Coaching.

In his spare time Geoff enjoys golfing and racquetball.
