Kingsmen Done in by Three-Point Shot
Harris nets 20 to lead CLU

PLEASANT HILL, Calif. - The Cal Lutheran defense allowed Whitman to knock down 13 three-pointers in
Saturday's 68-62 loss. Kingsmen newcomer Mike Harris provided 20 points and
seven rebounds against the Missionaries.

Aaron Van Klaveren scored the game's opening basket giving
the Kingsmen their only lead of the game. Whitman's Peter Clark responded with
two of his game-high seven triples on the ensuing back-to-back possessions. The
Missionaries would not trail over the final 38-plus minutes of regulation.
Cal Lutheran trailed by as many as 11 points in the first
half before pulling even with Whitman by halftime. Harris, Ryan Burris and
Jayvaughn Nettles combined to score the team's final 13 points of the opening
half and close out the final four minutes on a 13-3 run.
Tied 31-31 at halftime Cal Lutheran never led in the second
half. As he did in the first half Clark opened his team's scoring with a
three-pointer. He knocked down 7-of-13 attempts for the game and led all players with 21
points.
As a team Whitman made 8-of-16 from beyond the arc in the
second half. It proved to be the difference as the Missionaries connected on
13-of-32 from three while the Kingsmen drained 6-of-15.
Collin Knudsen finished with 16 points and led all players
with five assists. Nettles led the Kingsmen bench with 13 points including
three three-pointers.
Cal Lutheran (1-2) will host La Sierra on Wednesday, Nov.
30, at 7:30 p.m. The Kingsmen defeated the Golden Eagles in their season opener
69-56 back on Saturday, Nov. 19.
