Russell White was named the men's basketball coach in July of 2019. The 13th head coach in program history is a 1994 graduate and competed with the basketball and golf teams while attending CLU. In 1995, White got his teaching credential from Cal Lutheran.  

White was the head basketball coach at Crespi Carmelite High School for the past 13 seasons. During his tenure, the Celts went to the playoffs 12 times including seven C.I.F. semi-final appearances, seven state championship appearances, two C.I.F. Southern section titles and two state titles in 2015 and '16. The Celts accumulated more than 22 wins per year since he took the helm.  

White has also coached players that have or do compete at the collegiate and professional ranks: Jerramy King '08 (Philippines), London Perrantes '13 (Cleveland Cavaliers), De'Anthony Melton '16 ( USC and Memphis Grizzlies), Brandon Williams ’18 (Arizona), Kyle Dosa ’18 (Occidental), Gabe Borboa ’09 (Puget Sound), Matt Mounier ’11 (Whitman), Drew Housman ‘05 (Israel), Kyle Owens ’19 (Montana), Russell Stong ’18 (UCLA), and DJ Ursery ’14 (Chile).

Immediately upon graduation from CLU, White coached lower levels at Chaminade High School from 1994-99 and was the head coach at Calabasas from 1999-2006. He then accepted the job at Crespi in 2006 where he is the winningest coach in Crespi history. He was named California State Coach of the Year in 2016 when Crespi won the CIF Division 1 State Championship.

He and his wife Tara live in Thousand Oaks with their two sons (Peyton-13 and Spencer-7).
