Fagerberg, Howard Selected SCIAC Athletes of the Week

ALISO VIEJO, Calif.– This morning the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Athlete of the Week honorees and Cal Lutheran's Alexandra Fagerberg earned the Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week while Carly Rose Howard was named the Women's Volleyball Specialist of the Week.

This is the first SCIAC Athlete of the Week award for Fagerberg this season and second in her career. She earned the award last year after she nailed a game-winner. Howard made it a hat trick and earned Specialist of the Week for the third time this year.

Fagerberg (Austin, Texas) was brilliant in the attack for Cal Lutheran, netting three goals while tallying an assist over the week. The junior scored two goals and assisted another in the Regals' 4-0 win over Redlands. In CLU's win over No. 20 Trinity (Tex.), the forward scored an important goal to give her team a two-goal lead. Fagerberg is in excellent goal-scoring form with seven goals in her last eight games while leading her team with nine goals in the season.

Howard (Portland, Ore.) helped the defense to decisive wins against Chapman and Caltech. The Regals gave the Panthers just their second loss in SCIAC play, with great play from the senior, as Howard tallied 22 digs, 7.33 digs per set. The libero added six assists and one kill in the sweep. During the sweep versus CIT, she put up 15 digs and five assists. With the past week in the books, Howard joined elite company as she broke into CLU's record book with 1,062 career digs, which is the eighth most in program history.

Both teams wrap up their regular season's this week. Women's soccer has one game left and travels to Pomona-Pitzer Wednesday with kickoff set for 4 p.m. Women's volleyball has three games left and is back in action Tuesday as the Regals host Pomona-Pitzer at 7 p.m.
