ALISO VIEJO, Calif.– This afternoon the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the Week 3 Athlete of the Week honorees and Cal Lutheran women's soccer player Alexandra Fagerberg and men's water polo player George Lundgren were both selected as the Offensive Athlete of the Week for their respective sports.
A sophomore defender, Fagerberg helped the Regals to a pair of SCIAC wins as Cal Lutheran defeated La Verne, 5-1, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 1-0. The wins helped the Regals to 4-0-2 overall and 3-0-1 in conference play, also maintaining hold of the team's undefeated record to start the year.
A native of Austin, Texas, Fagerberg scored the game-winning goal against CMS in the 20thminute. The win also gave the Regals sole possession of first-place in the SCIAC. Against La Verne, she registered a pair of shots.
Lundgren helped lead the Kingsmen water polo team throughout their first week of play. Cal Lutheran went 3-3 on the week with wins over Penn St.-Behrend (16-4), Conn. College (20-7) and Division I, Iona (11-10 OT).
The junior attacker from La Grange Park, Ill., Lundgren recorded 15 goals including four against UC San Diego, three each agaist Gannon and Penn St.-Behrend and scored the game-tying goal that forced overtime against Iona.
The SCIAC Athlete of the Week series is released each Monday throughout the academic year.
