One week after a tough home loss to Pomona-Pitzer, the Cal Lutheran football team bounced back in a big way with a 34-0 shutout over previously undefeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at Zinda Field on Saturday afternoon.

In Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action on Saturday night, the Cal Lutheran football team dropped a narrow encounter, 31-27, to Pomona-Pitzer inside Rolland Stadium. For the Sagehens, it was their first win over CLU since 2004 and just their third since 1995.

Friederichsen, Settles Selected as AOW

Announced on Monday afternoon by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), Cal Lutheran student-athletes Ryley Settles, from the Regals soccer team, and Adam Friederichsen, from the Kingsmen football squad, were recognized as Athletes of the Week for their respective sports for their performance during the week of Sept. 26 – Oct. 2.

CLU Silences Leopards in SCIAC Opener

In the first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) game of the year, the Cal Lutheran football team went up against defending SCIAC champion La Verne and blew past the Leopards 45-13 on Saturday night at Rolland Stadium.

Announced this morning by D3football.com, Cal Lutheran junior linebacker Acquarey Eddington was named to the Team of the Week after his outstanding performance against Willamette this past Saturday.

Bearcats Comeback Spoils CLU Home Opener

In the first home game of the season, the Cal Lutheran football team dropped a heartbreaker 28-24 to Willamette after the Bearcats rallied from a 21-point deficit early and scored a touchdown with less than a minute remaining to top the Kingsmen at Rolland Stadium on Saturday.

Kingsmen Edged by Lutes in Opener

For the fifth consecutive season, the Cal Lutheran football team squared off against Pacific Lutheran in the season opener and for the fourth time in five years the game was decided by a touchdown or less. After a sensational comeback on their home field against the Lutes a season ago, the Kingsmen were on the other end of a second half comeback by PLU and dropped the first game of the year 17-14 on Saturday afternoon at Sparks Stadium.

New Look Kingsmen Geared Up for the Gridiron

After a strong start to the 2015 season was washed away by a multitude of injuries, the Cal Lutheran football team will look to stay healthy and put a full season together as they compete for the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) title. The Kingsmen will have a new look in 2016 as they bring in over 50 newcomers while returning more than 40.

2015-16: A Year in Review

The 2015-16 academic year was a memorable one for the Cal Lutheran athletics department. With 430 student-athletes occupying 460 roster spots, a number of milestones were met including the first NCAA Division III National title in school history, which was achieved by the women’s volleyball team, and an individual national champion crowned to round out the year.
