Lacombe Hauls in SCIAC AOW Honors

Aaron Lacombe earned SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors after leading the Kingsmen to a big 34-0 win over CMS on Saturday.

PASADENA, Calif. – Announced on Monday afternoon by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), Cal Lutheran football student-athlete Aaron Lacombe was recognized as Athlete of the Week for his performance during the week of Oct. 10-16.

The junior wide receiver snagged eight receptions for 155 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Kingsmen to a big 34-0 shutout victory over previously undefeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday. On the fourth play from scrimmage, quarterback Adam Friederichsen connected with Lacombe for a 57-yard touchdown pass and the dynamic duo connected once more in the third quarter on a 44-yard touchdown suitable for the highlight reel.

Lacombe leads the SCIAC with nine touchdowns, twice as many as the next receiver, and total yards with 635. He is averaging six receptions per game for an average of 127 yards. 

Lacombe becomes the third Kingsmen to earn SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors in 2016 after Friederichsen(Sept. 26 – Oct. 3) and men’s water polo player Chris Gardhouse (Sept. 12-18)were honored earlier this fall. On the women’s side,  soccer player Ryley Settles (Sept. 26 – Oct. 3 and Sept. 5-11) has been honored twice and was the first honoree alongside volleyball player Hope Stewart (Sept. 5-11).

Cal Lutheran (2-3, 2-1 SCIAC) will continue conference action on the road this Saturday, Oct. 22 against Whittier (0-5, 0-3 SCIAC) at 5:00 p.m. The Kingsmen lead the all-time series against the Poets, 26-4, and have won 15 straight meetings since 2001.
