Dr. Patrick Holmberg, CSCS
Assistant Director of Athletics for Performance
Dr. Patrick Holmberg has been working as a Strength and Conditioning coach at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels for over a decade. He is a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RCSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as well as a Certified Level I Coach from the Unites States Weightlifting Association (USAW). With his knowledge of Strength and Conditioning and his research work in Sport Science, he brings a strong background of performance excellence. He has presented his research findings on athlete burnout, self-determined motivation, and dynamical sytems theory at various conferences around the country. He is entering his 5th year at California Lutheran University.
Dr. Holmberg is pleased to bring his extensive knowledge of Sport Science to the Cal Lutheran Center for Performance Excellence.

Dr. Bruce Gillies
Assistant Professor, Organizational Leadership Major
Dr. Bruce Gillies has been conducting mental skills workshops, working with teams and individual athletes, and helping coaches focus on improved coaching skills for over a decade. Bringing his combined knowledge of Industrial/Organizational Psychology with his research work in Sport Psychology, he brings a solid foundation of performance excellence. He has worked with professional sports programs, Division I and Division III athletics programs and has helped High School coaches connect with their teams. He has presented his research findings at international conferences. His focus on athletic field leadership, team values, and dynamics, as well as performance profiling, has contributed to teams reaching national championships at the NCAA Division I level. Dr. Bruce Gillies
CLU's Sports Medicine Team
Kecia Davis, ATC
Since her arrival at CLU in 1991, Kecia Davis has held several positions, including Head Athletic Trainer, Head Women's Basketball coach, and Head Softball coach. She has also taught various classes withinn the Exercise Science department and served as the Program Director for ATEP (Athletic Training Education Program).
Cody Owens, ATC
Cody Owens graduated in 2005 with a degree in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine with an emphasis in Athletic Training. He went on to earn a Master's degree in Counseling and Guidance in 2008. He has been a part of the Sports Medicine team as an Assistant Athletic Trainer since 2007. While completing graduate coursework, Owens also assumed teaching responsibilities for ATEP.
Sam Olmon, ATC
Sam Olmon was hired as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in 2011 after earning her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine with an emphasis in Athletic Training from CLU. Sam also brings with her two years of experience as an Emergency Room Scribe, a position she held at Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks.
