Jacy Watanabe


Jacy Watanabe helped the Regals to a 3-1 record against SCIAC competition over the weekend with a .462 average at the plate, collecting six hits in 13 at-bats while scoring five runs. In a 10-inning walk-off thriller against Redlands, Watanabe went 2-for-4 with two runs and followed up her performance with two more runs scored while going 1-for-3 to defeat the Bulldogs 7-6 for the sweep. On Sunday, Watanabe collected three more hits, going 2-for-4 with a run scored in a 10-6 win over Whittier before going 1-for-2 in a narrow 3-2 defeat to the Poets. For good measure, Watanabe was perfect in the field with four putouts and stole a base in her only attempt.

Alexa Barnes

SCIAC Athlete of the Week

Alexa Barnes came away with two event wins at the SCIAC No. 1 dual meet on Saturday. The Olympia, Wash. native took first place in the Discus with a personal best throw of 36.78m to tie for eighth all-time in CLU history. Barnes also improved on her previous top mark of 41.17 in the Hammer Throw, with a distance of 41.40m for another first place finish. Rounding out her top finishes of the day, Barnes placed second in the Shot Put with a heave of 10.20m.

Timmy Kahovec

Track & Field

Timmy Kahovec led the Kingsmen against La Verne and Caltech in the first SCIAC dual meet of the season on Saturday with two event wins. The Saugus, Calif. native placed first overall in the 1500m with a time of 4:09.87 and also claimed the top spot after clocking a time of 1:58.95 in the 800m.
