Allie Hadley

Track & Field

SCIAC Athlete of the Week

In the first track and field meet of the year, Allie Hadley broke the Cal Lutheran school Javelin record with a throw of 48.0m at the On Your Mark meet at Westmont College. The junior All-American set the mark on her fourth attempt of the day and picked up the win in the event by more than 16 meters (52.49 feet). The previous CLU record was 47.14m set by Britlyn Garret, who was crowned the NCAA Division III National Champion in 2012, and Hadley’s previous best was 46.98m, which she set last season.

Arik Smith

Arik Smith led the Kingsmen to three wins during the week with none bigger than a 69-66 upset over No. 15 Chapman. The senior guard played all 40 minutes, scoring 18 points and pulling down six rebounds in the win. Just two nights before, he set a career-high with a 33-point performance in a 78-76 overtime victory over Whittier. Smith hit back-to-back threes to erase a five-point deficit late in regulation and his jumper with 22 seconds left sent the game into overtime. On Saturday afternoon in a 72-52 victory over Caltech, Smith reached double-figures with 10 points in just 19 minutes of play.
