Athletes of the Week

Week of January 12, 2015

Natalie Stone

Another solid week from Natalie Stone helped the Regals increase their win-streak to seven games as she contributed 19 assists, 17 points and 10 rebounds in two games the week of Jan. 12-18. The senior point guard dished out a career-high 12 assists in a 79-50 victory over Caltech and added seven more in a 72-45 win over Occidental. Stone also shot a combined 7-for-14 and had a season-best 11 points against the Tigers. Leading the SCIAC with 6.4 assists per game, she also added six points and seven rebounds against the Beavers. Stone has been a staple of the CLU success this season and is the only senior on a young team comprised of mostly sophomores and freshmen.

Ryan Brem

On Saturday, Jan. 17 at Whittier, senior Ryan Brem was instrumental in the Kingsmen earning their first ever team victory over Redlands, winning 165-134, while sweeping Whittier as well (202-90). Not only did he win both the one-meter and three-meter diving events, in the process he broke his own CLU one-meter diving record (by 19.15 points) with a score of 274.75, which is also just .25 off the NCAA Division III Regional qualifying score. Of his six dives, two scored more than 50 points as he earned a 50.6 on his tucked reverse double and a 50.4 on his tucked inward double.  Additionally, Brem went on to win the three-meter event with a score of 247.26. More impressive was that his performance came just two days after having a tooth pulled that forced him to miss a pair of practices leading up to the meet.
