Sarah Pappas

Volleyball

Over three matches last week, Sarah Pappas was nearly unstoppable swinging, with an overall hitting percentage of .547 that came from 29 kills and just two errors on 47 chances. In back-to-back matches against No. 19 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Redlands, respectively, she was flawless with nine and 13 kills on 16 swings in each match. The final contest of the week saw the sophomore hit at an incredible .812 clip after notching a percentage of .562 less than 24 hours earlier against the Athenas. At the beginning of the week she added seven kills in limited action during a 3-0 sweep of Occidental. Pappas was also a menace at the net with 7.0 total blocks that included a pair of solo stops and five assists. In the Friday match against CMS she also recorded a pair of digs and on the road at UR she put down two service aces. Overall, Pappas provided 35.5 points, including 16 versus the Bulldogs, and averaged 3.94 points per set with 3.22 kills per set, .78 blocks per set, .22 aces per set and .22 digs per set. Pappas guided the No. 2 Cal Lutheran team to a trio of 3-0 sweeps in SCIAC play to stretch the Regals’ league win-streak to 31 matches dating back to Sept. 29, 2012. She has also n instrumental throughout the season for a CLU team that is currently 15-1.


Zack Larson

Soccer

Zack Larson used his speed and agility to be a playmaker in two games this week with six points from a pair of goals and as many assists as the Kingsmen went 1-1 against SCIAC teams. The transfer started by assisting the opening goal against Chapman in the first half and came back with a game-winner in the 76th minute.  On Saturday, Larson lifted a free kick into the box for an assist for the first goal of the contest and two minutes later he curved a shot into the back of the net for the second goal of the game and his third of the year. This week he fired off six shots and overall has a team-leading 22 attempts this year.
