SCIAC Athlete of the Week

Cal Lutheran outside hitter Kylie McLogan was instrumental in Cal Lutheran’s 2-0 run through the SCIAC Post Season Tournament, recording 33 kills and 14 digs along with three aces. In the Semifinal against Chapman, McLogan nearly had a double-double, posting 11 kills and eight digs as the Regals swept the Panthers 3-0. In Saturday’s final against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, McLogan led all attackers with 21 kills and had just three errors on 34 swings (.529 avg), nearly matching the entire offensive output of the Athenas (27 kills). The senior also had six digs, three service aces and two assists as the Regals locked up their second Post Season Tournament championship in the past three seasons and qualified for their eighth consecutive bid to the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament.

SCIAC Athlete of the Week

Cal Lutheran midfielder Thiago Gaglianone picked the right time to score the first goal of his collegiate career, propelling the Kingsmen to their first NCAA appearance in 15 years after scoring an overtime golden goal against Chapman in Saturday’s SCIAC Post Season Tournament Championship game. The goal broke a 0-0 tie in the fifth minute of overtime, 96th minute overall. Gaglianone has started in 16 games this season and will join his teammates as they travel to San Antonio, Tex. next weekend to play in the First Round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Tournament.
