Nicho DellaValle

In a three-game sweep of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, DellaValle went 9-for-13 (.692 avg) with six RBIs and five runs scored. Of the nine hits, three were for extra bases with a pair of triples and a double. In game one of the series, the junior third baseman was a homerun short of the cycle when he went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Game two saw DellaValle notch his sixth three-hit game of the season and in game three, the Santa Ynez, Calif. native put the game out of reach with his three-run triple in the bottom of the third inning. Defensively he was perfect at the hot corner with four assists. He has been a staple for the Kingsmen all season and is batting .434 overall this spring.

Shonna Christianson

SCIAC Athlete of the Week

Shonna Christianson had an outstanding week both on the mound and at the plate in a pair of series against No. 19 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Occidental, propelling the Regals to a 3-1 showing. The sophomore helped CLU snap a 16-game losing streak against the Athenas with a complete game shut-out in which she struck out three. The upset also marked the first time CLU has defeated a ranked opponent in more than two years. Christianson kept things rolling on Saturday, notching her second consecutive complete game shutout as CLU defeated Occidental 9-0 in five innings. The Rohnert Park, Calif. native had a nearly identical outing, striking out three. Christianson pushed her consecutive scoreless inning streak to 14.0. At the plate, she has created a four-game hit-streak after going 5-for-11 (.455 average) with a double, three runs and an RBI, adding two walks. The Regals have won eight of their last nine games.
