Lauren Rohach

Track & Field

Lauren Rohach etched her name in the CLU record books with an NCAA qualifying mark in the Long Jump at the SCIAC Quad No. 2 meet on Saturday. Her leap of 5.72m won the event by .20m. She also ran the second leg of the winning 4x100m relay for the Regals in 48.31, just off CLU record pace. The junior placed second in the 200m dash with a time of 25.57, moving her to second all-time at Cal Lutheran. If CLU would have run the 4x400m relay she would have anchored that team, but they withdrew from the race.

Nicholas Ballou

Nicholas Ballou continued his dominance on the tennis courts at both number one singles and doubles for CLU during a 4-0 week with wins over No. 3 Williams, No. 19 Amherst, No. 22 Pomona-Pitzer and No. 28 Trinity (Ct.). The senior improved to 13-0 in singles play with victories over two ranked opponents. Ballou started his 4-0 week with a 7-5, 6-3 win over No. 9 Andrew Yaraghi of Amherst and finished by defeating No. 11 Christ Wiechert 6-3, 6-2 in SCIAC action on Saturday. CLU played three consecutive matches Tue-Thur with Ballou earning 6-3, 6-3 and 6-0, 6-2 as well. In doubles play with Ray Worley, the duo won 8-5, 8-3, 8-1 and 8-5 this week to push their win total to 12 on the season. Ballou is a perfect 13-0 in singles action in 2013.
