Martin Flowers

Basketball

Martin Flowers led the Kingsmen offense in the first full week of the season, scoring 38 points for an average of 12.7 per game. He started all three games, accumulating 70 minutes of action as CLU went 1-2. The sophomore scored 15 points on 5-for-8 shooting, with a 2-for-2 night from beyond the arc, with three steals in the lone victory of the week against La Sierra. In a tough battle on the second day of the Surf’s Up Classic in Honolulu, HI, in which he dislocated his shoulder and returned to the court, against Pacific, Flowers led the squad with 17 points, adding four rebounds and three steals. He was 9-for-11 at the charity stripe in the 73-70 loss. In the first of two games in Hawaii, Flowers scored six and recorded a block.


Jazmyne Porter

Womens Basketball

Jazmyne Porter is this week’s Athlete of the Week after scoring a season-high 17 points in a come-from-behind 75-60 victory over Whitworth last Monday. Trailing 36-31 at halftime, CLU went on a 23-3 run to start the half and take the lead for good. Leading the run was Porter who scored 11 points during the eight minute span, including nine-straight on the Regals opening three possessions. The 5-foot-8 guard is averaging 6.5 points and four rebounds so far on the season.
