Women's Soccer

Senior Mayra Virgenhad a week to remember, scoring a pair of game winning goals for the league leading, undefeated, Regals Soccer team. Virgen finished the week with two goals and two assists as CLU went 2-0 defeating Redlands 4-0 and Pomona-Pitzer 2-1. She took five shots in each game, with a combined five on goal. Against UR she scored in the 9th minute before CLU tacked on three more, one assisted by the forward, holding the Bulldogs off the board. Saturday versus the Sagehens, she served in the ball to Taylor Will for an assist on the first goal before she broke a 1-1 tie with a goal of her own in the 87th minute to push the CLU SCIAC record to 10-0.

Zach Shultis


In his first career start under center CLU quarterback Zach Shultis finished with four touchdown passes, six PATs and a field goal in a 45-10 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to remain undefeated in SCIAC action. The Thousand Oaks, Calif. native was 16-for-23 passing for 213 yard with no interceptions. He also rushed for 10 yards. His longest completion was a 41-yard TD pass that came on the first offensive play of the game for the Kingsmen. He followed up with seven yard, 26-yard and three yard touchdowns as well. They all came in the first half before he gave way to backups in the final quarter. Additionally Shultis was 6-for-6 in PAT attempts and knocked down a 22-yard field goal for the final scoring of the night for the No. 8 Kingsmen.
