SCIAC Athlete of the Week

Ballou was named the SCIAC Player of the Year after completing his perfect conference season at the SCIAC Championships (May 4-5). The No. 1 Kingsmen in both singles and doubles finished a combined 18-0 in SCIAC action playing at the top spot all season.

Ballou is currently ranked No. 1 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) West region rankings in both singles and doubles with partner Ray Worley. This past weekend he won all six of his matches including the last four over top-7 regionally ranked foes.

After dropping the opening set in his first SCIAC singles match of the season, Ballou has won 18 straight sets against league opponents en route to his perfect record. The Ojai Singles champion and Doubles finalist is 21-6 in singles play and 23-3 in doubles action this season.

Jordan Leckness

Women's Tennis

Leckness earned the fifth and deciding point in a shutout win over La Verne in the opening round of the 2012 SCIAC Championships on Friday, May 4.

Leckness earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles over Valerie Lezin to advance Cal Lutheran into the semifinals. Earlier in that match she teamed up with Lauren Toohey for an 8-4 win at second doubles.

Cal Lutheran finished in fourth place in the final conference standings and at the conference championships. Leckness finished with a 5-5 SCIAC singles record including a 4-3 mark at the No. 5 spot.
