Team Defense

Women's Soccer

Cal Lutheran did not allow a goal in three games this week and extended its overall win streak to nine matches. The Regals earned SCIAC victories over Occidental and CMS to remain perfect in conference play this season.

CLU closed out its weekend schedule with a 2-0 victory over UC Santa Cruz earning its 12th win in 13 matches this season.

Overall the Regals defense has allowed only seven goals against while earning eight shotouts thus far in 2011.

Brandon Gross

Men's Water Polo

The senior scoring leader netted three goals in a 9-8 overtime victory over No. 2 national ranked Johns Hopkins this past Friday.

He scored in all four of CLU's games at the Claremont Convergence tallying at least three in all but one contest. Gross finished the with 11 goals and six drawn exclusions as the Kingsmen finished 3-1 during the weekend schedule.

Gross currently leads CLU with 49 goals and 23 drawn exclusions this season.

SCIAC Athlete of the Week

Rogers hauled in six catches for 206 yards and two touchdowns during the first half of a 56-0 home win over Whittier. He became the first Kingsmen in the program's 50-plus year history to amass 200-plus receiving yards in a home game.

All six of his receptions covered at least 20 yards and for either first downs or scores. His first catch of 51 yards moved both him and quarterback Jake Laudenslayer into the program's all-time top-10 career receiving yardage and passing yardage lists, respectively on the same play.

Rogers leads the SCIAC with 501 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. He currently ranks 12th in Division III averaging over 125 receiving yards per game.
