Athletes of the Week

Week of March 7, 2011

Peter Ciaramitaro

In Saturday's opener against Whittier the junior hurler struck out 12 batters, including six straight batters in a row during an 8-2 victory over Whittier. Ciaramitaro went eight innings and fanned the most hitters by a CLU pitcher since the 2007 season.

During CLU's current eight-game win streak he has provided quality starts and earned the victory in both of his outings.

On the year Ciaramitaro is 3-2 with a 3.06 ERA. He has tossed six or more innings in each of his five starts and is a major reason for the Kingsmen being atop the SCIAC standings.

Alyssa Abayari

In seven games the freshman led the Regals with 10 hits, a .435 batting average and five stolen bases. She recorded at least one hit in six of seven contests.

In game two of a doubleheader sweep against Swarthmore, Abayari went 4-for-4 at the plate, scored three runs and converted on all four of her stolen base attempts.
