Nicole Rains

Women's Soccer

Sophomore midfielder Nicole Rains helped the CLU women's soccer team remain unbeaten last week with a 1-1 tie against No. 23 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and a 3-2 victory over Chapman.

In that win over the Panthers, Rains provided two second-half goals with the latter standing as the game-winning goal. Rains made runs to the center of the field on both and on the first goal she received a cross from the right side in the 54th minute and then in the 61st minute she received a pass from the left side and scored the game-winner.

The timely goals were the first two of the season for the sophomore that has taken just five shots on the season.

Jordan Meaney

Men's Water Polo

Junior Jordan Meaney entered Friday's match against Fresno Pacific with three goals through eight games and then he exploded for five goals against the Sunbirds including two clutch goals to send the game into overtime.

With CLU trailing by two and 11 seconds remaining, Meaney netted his fourth score of the game to bring CLU to within one. Following a FPU timeout, Meaney stole the ball from the Sunbirds goalkeeper about three meters out from goal and put away the equalizer with just eight seconds left.

The junior added three steals, an assist and a drawn exclusion in the match. On the season, Meaney has eight goals, four assists, 11 steals and seven kickouts drawn.
