A record-setting group of 99 student-athetes from 19 teams at California Lutheran University were recognized by the school's Scholar Athlete Society at a year-end banquet. All the students maintained a 3.4 GPA or higher for the academic year while particpating as a NCAA Division III student-athlete.
The conclusion of the 2008-09 athletics year came to a close with the California Lutheran women's programs taking third in the Conference All-Sports Standings. Points are awarded based on final conference standings for each of the nine SCIAC sports and awarded to each institution respectively.
At the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Senior Athlete Social on May 11 four Cal Lutheran seniors were honored. Summer Plante-Newman and David Iden were selected as the SCIAC Scholar-Athletes while Lindsey Benson and Kyle Hansen were named as the CLU Athletes of the Year.
After all the postseason accolades have officially been announced, California Lutheran University fall athletic programs achieved great success during their respective 2008 campaigns.
