Several Cal Lutheran volleyball team members earned multiple postseason accolades for their athletic performances during the 2009 season. This group of Regals is highlighted by junior Erin Exline who earned third team All-American status, announced earlier today.

Megan Thorpe, an outside hitter on the Cal Lutheran
volleyball team was unanimously selected as the conference's Female Athlete of
the Week (Nov. 2-8), announced late last week.

The fifth seed Cal Lutheran volleyball team fell
to top-seeded Colorado College 3-2 in the west region semifinals of the NCAA
Division III Volleyball Championship in Redlands
on Friday. The Regals who battled back all season long fell just short of
climbing out of a 2-1 hole.

Down to its final set the Cal Lutheran
volleyball team rallied back from a 2-1 deficit for a 3-2 victory over the University of Puget Sound
in the first round of the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship in Redlands on Thursday. CLU
made 30 combined errors in its first and third set losses and just 14 total
errors in its wins in sets two, four and five.

With the regular season complete the 2009 Volleyball All-SCIAC Team was announced and Cal Lutheran had five players
earn all-conference honors. Senior Cori Hayes, junior Erin Exline and
freshmen Jackie Russell and Rachel Smith were selected to the first
team while junior Allison Kerr was named to the second team.

With a 20-11 overall record and second place conference standing, the
Cal Lutheran volleyball team learned Monday morning that it was selected to
compete in the 2009 NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship that
opens on Nov. 12. The West Regional will be hosted by the University of
Redlands and the Regals will face the University of Puget Sound (18-6)
in the first round on Thursday.

After defeating La Verne twice during the regular season for the first time since the new millennium, the third time was a charm for the Leopards. ULV dealt CLU a 3-1 loss in Currier Gymnasium on the Redlands campus Friday evening despite a career-high 22 kills from Regals junior Megan Thorpe.

With their regular seasons complete the Cal
Lutheran women's soccer and volleyball team have qualified for their respective
conference tournaments and an opportunity to claim automatic bids into the NCAA
postseason.
