A record-setting group of 99 student-athetes from 19 teams at
California Lutheran University were recognized by the school's Scholar
Athlete Society at a year-end banquet. All the students maintained a
3.4 GPA or higher for the academic year while particpating as a NCAA
Division III student-athlete.

Cal Lutheran junior Matt Martin was one of only two
players in Division III baseball to eclipse 10 triples, doing so in 35 games
during the 2009 season notching the triples per game title outright. The mark
also breaks the school's 29-year old single season record and 15-year old
career record.

Six of the 10 Cal Lutheran men's athletic programs secured
top three conference finishes earning a fourth place result in the 2008-09
SCIAC All-Sports Standings. Points are awarded based on final conference standings
for each of the nine SCIAC sports and awarded to each institution respectively.

California Lutheran University's David Iden has been
selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 35th round of Major
League Baseball's 2009 First-Year Player Draft, announced on Thursday. The senior
infielder was the 1,057th pick overall and the latest Kingsmen
selected since former teammate Lee Ellis in 2007.

Junior Jordan Ott was named to the 2009 D3Baseball.com All-America Team, released earlier today. The designated hitter earned an "Honorable Mention" spot after hitting .361 and led the team with 50 RBI.

Cal Lutheran baseball junior Paul Hartmann was selected to the 2009 ESPN the Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) All-Academic District VIII College Division Team. An Exercise Science and Sports Medicine major Hartmann has maintained a 3.50 grade point average while being one of the main offensive contributors for the Kingsmen.

At the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
Senior Athlete Social on May 11 four Cal Lutheran seniors
were honored. Summer Plante-Newman and David Iden were selected as the SCIAC
Scholar-Athletes while Lindsey Benson and Kyle Hansen were named as the CLU
Athletes of the Year.

With a 31-win regular season,
the California Lutheran University baseball team had five players
selected to the 2009 All-SCIAC Team. Junior Chase Tigert was one of
three conference pitchers to earn first team selections.
